Your First Chat

Learn how to chat with AI characters and use all the chat features.

Starting a Chat

  1. Find a character (browse homepage or search)
  2. Click on the character card to view details
  3. Click "Start Chat" button
  4. The character will greet you with their greeting message

Sending Messages

  • Type your message in the input box at the bottom
  • Press Enter or click Send
  • Wait for the AI to generate a response (usually 2-5 seconds)
  • Continue the conversation naturally!

Key Chat Features

🔄 Swipe Between Responses

If a character has multiple greetings or you regenerate a response, use the arrow buttons to swipe between different versions.

🔁 Regenerate

Not happy with a response? Click the regenerate button (🔁) to get a new one. The AI will generate a different response to the same message.

✏️ Edit Messages

Click the edit button (✏️) on any message to modify it. This creates a new branch in the conversation.

👍👎 Rate Responses

Use thumbs up/down to rate responses. This helps improve character quality.

⚙️ Chat Settings

Click settings to change:

  • Model: Switch between GPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.
  • Temperature: Control creativity (0=focused, 2=creative)
  • Context Length: How much history to include

Tips for Great Conversations

  • Be Descriptive: Describe actions, emotions, and context
  • Use Actions: Use *asterisks* for actions (*smiles*, *looks around*)
  • Ask Open Questions: Encourage detailed responses
  • Stay In Character: Match the character's tone and setting
  • Be Patient: Give the AI context to work with
💡 Pro Tip: If the character seems off, try regenerating or adjusting the temperature. Higher temperature = more creative and varied responses.
